Unhooking Shame from Pain

Pain often triggers shame and aggression toward oneself, as if being in pain was a personal failure. Why can’t I get better? Why can’t I do the things I used to do?
If the root of the word healing is to make whole again, shame divides us and pits us against our own body. Over time, we might even feel a sense of isolation from others, or overwhelmed by emotions triggered by our pain.
In this workshop, you’ll find that being in pain doesn’t have to mean being ashamed or feeling unworthy. You will learn a process for lightening the sense of shame and developing a wholesome relationship with your body. By treating our situation and ourselves with honesty and compassion, we can discover new possibilities for recovery and healing.
