Summer Loving(-kindness) and Self-Compassion Weekend With Kimberly Brown!
August 18 @ 4:00 pm - August 20 @ 2:00 pm
Reconnect with Your Body and Heart
August 18-20th, Sky Lake Lodge in Rosendale, N.Y.
As summer ripens into its fullest moment, make time for yourself with a break upstate. Join experienced teachers Kimberly Brown and Dan Cayer at beautiful Sky Lake Lodge for a restorative weekend. In this peaceful mountaintop setting, you’ll practice sitting and walking meditation, and learn to develop kindness to your body, mind, and emotions. Dan will guide you in a unique blend of embodiment practices to transform experiences of stuckness and stress into openness and self-acceptance, and Kimberly will offer insight and instruction to generate kindness and compassion to yourself and others.
We’ll share delicious meals on the back porch, take relaxing hikes through the 22 acre forest surrounding the lodge, and visit a nearby swimming hole.
The weekend will include:
– How to transform our experience of stress and insecurity into openness and self-acceptance.
– How to live a more heart-involved life.
– The healing power of self-compassion through lovingkindness meditation, drawn from Kim’s long teaching experience and her study with teachers such as Sharon Salszberg.
Drop the pressures and busyness of your everyday life, reconnect with your own well-being and inspiration, and delight in all that summer offers!
No experience with meditation, yoga, or mindfulness is necessary. Participants will be helped and encouraged to find comfortable positions and ways to rest and recharge their bodies throughout the weekend, and will also have an opportunity to sign up for additional optional private body/Alexander Technique sessions with Dan.
Check-in for the retreat begins at 4 PM on Friday and there will be a predinner session for those who are able to arrive before 7 PM. The program ends after lunch on Sunday. Registration includes lodging, gourmet eats (vegetarian and non-vegetarian), guided meditation instruction, daily classes and activities, and personal time to rest and relax. Sky Lake Lodge is easily accessible with a car or by public transportation.
About Dan Cayer: Dan Cayer is a New York City-based teacher and writer who is committed to helping others change habitual patterns, find freedom from pain, and create a sane relationship with their body. He received his teaching certification from The American Center for the Alexander Technique. He is a longtime meditator and trained instructor.
