How to Rest: A Workshop for Activists and Other Concerned New Yorkers

During this time of change and upset, many of us are experiencing so much fear, worry, and anxiety that we’re unable to rest.  Constantly reading the news, checking social media, making calls and protesting, (or thinking about protesting), are disturbing our sleep, and upsetting our ability to relax and enjoy our friends, families, and work.

 

Join Dan for this special three-hour opportunity to rest your mind and recharge your body. Learn and practice peaceful-abiding meditation so you can take care of yourself during this stressful time.  We’ll have sessions of sitting and quiet walking practice, and will learn to use the Alexander Technique to help us shed excess tension so you can focus more and be present and live in your body, not your fears and regrets.  Being present for what is actually happening enables us to make wise decisions for ourselves and others, and prevents us from falling into hopelessness and despair.  This workshop is not meant to ignore current events, but rather to offer a brief refuge where we can learn to replenish and care for our mind and body to continue our efforts to create a wise and harmonious world.
